Job Description

CORE SKILLS: Deep technical expertise and experience in all aspects of managing

Microsoft Windows Servers in a large-scale enterprise environment including but

not limited to

- Windows 2003 and 2008 Server Standard and Enterprise editions, 32-bit and 64-bit

- OS patching using automated processes and associated troubleshooting to remediate

- Tier 2 hardware support, including HP or SUN

- Case management systems such as Remedy Alliance, including SLA and RCA/LTF

- Formal Change Management system using outage windows observing freeze periods

- Scripting in administrative languages, including Perl and VBS

- SAN/NAS/DAS storage including RAID configuration

- File system concepts and effective share and file system permissions

- Monitoring system-critical hardware and services using automated tools

- Management of computing security in a large-scale distributed environment

- Troubleshooting skills including crash dump analysis, perfmon and packet captures

- Remote "hands-off" systems inventory and management. Altiris experience a plus.

- Terminal services management for multi-user environments

- Remote access tools such as Remote Desktop Connection, SSH, VNC, iLO Remote Console

ADDITIONAL SKILLS: In addition to the requirements listed above, the ideal candidate

will offer strength in one or more of the following areas

- MSSQL/Sharepoint Server administration

- Linux skills including deep knowledge of internals (Highly Desired)

- VERITAS volume management

- Computing Security in a large-scale distributed engineering environment (securing

source code, authentication, ssl, ssh, key management, etc.)

- Systems Automation via programming (tooling / scripting in Perl, shell(s), etc.)

- Advanced Troubleshooting for complex multi-dimensional, cross platform issues

- Architectural design of global computing environments

- Systems and application virtualization in an engineering computing environment

- Performance tuning at both the system and environment levels

- Leadership of large scale cross functional initiatives / projects

- Extensive experience in a geographically dispersed Clearcase Environment.

- Experience supporting software and/or hardware engineering development user

communities and their associated computing environments is highly desired.

- A strong background in the deployment and management of VMware ESX

Typically requires BS degree plus 4-8 years systems administration experience, or equivalent.

Prefer MS or equivalent. Microsoft, VMWare, RedHat and ITIL certification a plus.
